DAPCU Wardha Response for Supportive Supervision

Supervision

Supervision means the act of watching over the work or tasks of another who may lack full knowledge of the concept at hand. Supervision does not mean control of another but guidance in a work, professional or personal context.

Plan and Implementation

A plan is typically any diagram or list of steps with timing and resources, used to achieve an objective. 

In other words, Planning  is the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to achieve a desired goal

Planning is the important tool for Supervision, if the planning is perfect than easy to supervise the work , in the DAPCU activity the Visit plan is very important , through that it is easily understand ,what’s the objective or purpose of visit or what is the area where we want the improvement,  planning also is depend  on the previous performance of the ICTC work,  following points take into consideration during the plan of visit


  • Plan the visit according to the Low to High performance of Facility (in the same rout)
  • Choose Only one or two facility for Effective supervision   same day 
  • Prepared the list of points which are discussed during the visit
  • Take the last month performance to identify the gap in areas where the improvements  possible
  • Time and work load of the take into consideration of respective ICTC where the visit planned
  • Look the areas for work in facility
Implementation is the carrying out, execution, or practice of a plan, a method, or any design for doing something

Do visit according to the Plan, time management is very important during the execution of plan, first take the important issues and Programme Indicators and do visit according to plan

DAPCU Keep’s the Following points During the Supportive supervision Visit


  • DAPCU always keep in mind that we are come here for guidance and not for inspection
  • Behave like the supportive person not  a officer
  • Understand the situation when entered in the ICTC centre, don’t disturb the counseling session
  • Shared the all new guidelines related to the program me with the ICTC staff including ICTC incharge
  • Tray to understand the problem and its solution with use of available resources
  • Explain the need and importance of time during the work
  • Develop the confidence of the staff
  • Help and guide the ICTC staff to plan their routine activities
  • Praise and encourage the staff for their achievements  and also motivate them for continues good work
  • Analysis the Gap and give proper feedback to ICTC Incharge, and take active participation from them to improvement of work
  • Check the visit book, to look  for  improvement in last month’s points
  • Noted the visit observation with achievements of the work in Visit book
  • Identify the Staff’s requirement, inform the authorities and work as per suggestion
  • Explain and demonstrate (if possible) each and every points in details and clear all the queries of staff
  • Use the 2 way communication skills  during supervision
  • Keep the friendly condition during the visit not behave like officer
  • Consider a burden /load of the centre (try to decentralized if possible to reduce the lode for better performance), and also the overall performance of the centre
  • Establish the good relation with all  team members  and explain the importance of TEAM work
  • Welcome the new ideas of ICTC staff about the work, give full response to the Staff  (with proper correction in Ideas)
  • Give feed back to the ICTC work
  • Identify the burden of work and try to give solution for it
  • Identify the burn out situation of the ICTC staff and give them the new ideas about the work, reduce the risk of burnout

DAPCU Wardha Response to the Theme of HIV & Women

What are the ways in which your district ensures that women have access to HIV services?

There are various ways of HIV Services delivered in the District, in Every taluka place have a Standalone ICTC for providing PPTCT service and STI/RTI testing, also establish the 12 F-ICTC’s at 24X7 PHCs, and 10 PPP centre in the Maternity homes, which are helpful for women’s to easily access  the HIV testing Facility. With the Help of PPTCT/LWS NGO ICTC counselors Organized the HIV awareness camp, and provided the testing facility on grass root level such as PHC and Sub Centre Levels, recently in the district trained the ANM for Whole Blood testing so that women’s  have access to HIV testing service at grass root level at PHC and Sub Centre level.
  • In district Wardha, 10 maternity home convert to F-ICTC(PPP), through that total  4383
    Women tested in the Year 2012-2013
  • 12 Primary Health Care Centre run as F-ICTC through that total 2441 women Tested in the Year 2012-2013
  • All Positive ANC’s Registered to Art Centre,
  • Out of Total HIV Positive Delivery, 93.7% ANCs received the Neverapine through the Health Facility
  • In the Year 2012-13 total 43333 client tested out of that 64.34% are women (General+ANC)
  • BY the IEC activity of ICTC Staff, covered the ANC from Rural Area, the HIV Testing camp organized in sub centre level
  • In the year 2012-2013, Total 2441 women tested from Rural Area.
  • The VDRL testing done to all ANC
  • With the coordination of PPTCT/LWS NGO, we organized the Awareness programme, HIV sensitization programme to all over the district.
  • The ICTC Counselors sensitize the Asha worker for Women’s HIV Testing
  • During the follow up visit Counselors/ PPTCT ORW ensure that the ANC come for Delivery at Health Facility.
Have you made any special efforts to address their needs and vulnerability?
  • Every needs have its special existence i.e. the ICTC Counselors participated in the Mahila Melava  organized for the Asha Workers, Anganwadi Sewika and Social Work Collage Student and  the NGO representatives in the AIDS Week, in this programme counselor provided the information regarding Women and HIV, Need of HIV Testing, PPTCT Programme, Nutrition, Care and Support for Possitive Women, information about Social Benefit Scheme and Positive Living.
  • In DAPCC meeting DAPCU Address the need to covered separated women and widow for SGNY Benefit Scheme, The Additional Collector considered and ready to give the SGNY Scheme benefit for Separated Women and Widows.

 On the Occasion of Women‘s Day programme DAPCU Wardha organized the Awareness programme for Women with the      collaboration of Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal & Lok Sanchalit Sadhan Kendra Arvi. In this programme 500 women’s are presented from the 63 villages, the resource person Dr. Vijya Mude give information about the following:

  • Way of Spreading HIV
  • Importance of HIV testing and ICTC
  • PPTCT Programme
  • Nutrition during Pregnancy
  • Stigma and Discrimination


Co-ordination with PPTCT/LWS Ngo the DAPCU and ICTC staff arranges the IEC stall at the place.

Wardha Response to Monthly Theme - Mainstreaming

DAPCU WARDHA is always in a search of the ways to reach to the high risk population through various ways of IEC and mainstreaming. ICTC counselor of Arvi  shri. Rahul Shende has done the extraordinary efforts for IEC. He met to the Depot-Manager Maharashtra Roadways and taken the permission for IEC event. Arvi is a town connected with the more than 150 villages. Thursday was a market day in a Arvi so all the rural population came to the town place on that day.
By taking this opportunity ICTC has arranged the HIV/AIDS awareness activity in the bus-stand. The information about HIV/AIDS has shared with passengers on bus-stand. The Do’s and Don’ts about HIV has explained to the passengers. To avoid any stigma & discrimination issue counselor has explained, ‘how to behave with the PLHIV’.
 Depot-manager appreciated the efforts taken by the counselor and requested to repetition of such event in continuous time intervals. Counselor has given the condom demo and also distributed the IEC material to the more than 250-300 passengers.
