Mysore Response - Coordination Among DAPCU

Is there a need for DAPCU to work in co-ordination with each other?

  • Yes, co-ordination among DAPCU is very important to share the innovative       ideas/activity.
  • Mysore is the regional District and getting more cases from neighboring Districts like Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Kodagu  etc. So we send the LFU line list to them to follow up.
  • SACS conducting the state level DAPCU review meeting, it’s the opportunity to share DAPCU activity.
  • When we prepare   DAPCU monthly report, we discuss the activities with the Kodagu DAPCU, even we discuss about the reporting methods. When we conducting regional level training, we co-ordinate with the DAPCU’s in a region.

DAPCU Mysore Response to Role of DAPCU's & F-ICTC

Role of DAPCU in  Locating a suitable health facility to establish  F-ICTCs
o       DAPCU play an important role in establishing F-ICTC in a District. DAPCU   has to find out the nursing home/hospital, who have more than  50  deliveries and  50 HIV tests.

Capacity building of the F-ICTC (i. e. training of staff, providing registers/ formats, providing guidance, supervision etc.)
o       We give F-ICTC details to SACS,they  will arrange training facility to F-ICTC. Then in District level, DAPCU will intimate all F-ICTC and arrange training to staff nurses and LTs. In training we provide register and report format to the F-ICTC.

Strengthening of linkages between F-ICTC and Designated ICTCs

We link all F-ICTCs to stand alone ICTC  and  given the responsibity to collect reports and  to follow up of positive case.In F-ICTC they do 1st test and for  2nd and 3rd test, they refer the client  to stand alone ICTC.When the case linked to ICTC,the whole responsibily is lies with ICTC.DAPCU can review the case with ICTC.

Monitoring and evaluation of F-ICTCs
Stand alone ICTC will monitor F-ICTC programme at their end and enter SIMs                           report also.In District level we review LTs of  F-ICTCs  in LTs monthly meeting.DAPCU  will monitor the programme when visit the centre. And  review the programme with MO,Counsellor and LTs

Share a few achievements from your districts in this regard
It will be easy to cover  ANCs and more TB patients through F-ICTCs.We have achived 100% ANC coverage as per NRHM data. And few PHCs  are linked to F-ICTC and  do counseling and testing   at PHC  and give report to F-ICTCs.

Mysore's Response to Theme- Supportive Supervision

Supervision is to give support to the counselors/LTs to do better work assigned to them. Supervision should enhance capacity of the staffs to strengthen work pattern.

Before visit we prepare ICTC/LAC check list, it should includes new updates. When we visit ICTC/LAC we verify all registers, including positive registers and discuss about the clients, whether its reached ART or for other services. If the staffs are in any problem in their work, we give technical support to them.

What should DAPCU keep in mind while undertaking supervision?

When we undertaking supervision ,we have to keep in our mind that, supervision is not fault finding, we should not demotivate our staffs in their work, we should give support to cope up from the problems and motivate them to make better work.

Dos
  1. Support to the staffs
  2. Friendly relationship
  3. Be clear what is expected
  4. Develop technical  skill
  5. Concentration on welfare of the clients
  6. Implementation of new policies and procedure
  7. The supervisor should ensure that they remain updated knowledge
Don'ts
  1. Do not harm others
  2. Its not fault finding and policing.

         1)     Significance of Voluntary Blood Donation :
Voluntary blood donation day is very important activity to motivate more donors, especially youths, because we use to do Jatha (Procession) programme with play cards, it gives awareness to the public.

2)The Voluntary Blood Donation was observed on  1/10/12 with the help of District administration, ZP, DHO, KSAPS, DAPCU, NSS, University evening college, Red cross, RRC and NGOs.

  •              We have conducted Jatha programme from DHO office Nazarbad through main roads of Mysore City and ended at DHO office Mysore. More number of youths, college students, Nursing college students and NGO people attended this program me9.30 AM.
  •         After the Jatha programme, we have done stage programme. And conducted Lecture programme by Dr.Seetharam, BSU officer SVYM Saragur. All officials also spoke about importance of Blood donation. Programme was very successful.

3) Challenges:

  • Sponsorship Programme under Women and Child Welfare Department -266
  • Sponsorship Programme Balakara and Balamandira 43 out of 232
  • Widow Pension - 231

  • Bus Pass for senior citizens
The Support offered by DAPCU and the District Administration: DAPCU was very supportive in all stages of program in order to reach the required benefits for our beneficiaries (PLHIV’s/OVC’s) it was really outstanding  support . DAPCU has organized and participated in all the meetings held with district commissioner, CEO and other departmental authorities , DAPCU was there in all the bottleneck’s to resolve and make the progress smoother also DAPCUsupported our project beneficiaries to access the scheme.

Role Of facilities: DIC/DLN/LAC/ARTC/ICTC s have helped us in referring the patients for treatment and extended their support in providing treatment to the referred cases from our center. Also follow up list provided from the ARTC/ICTCs to reach the PLHIVs more.

Major challenges faced in reaching this program to beneficiaries has listed below
Confidentiality issues
  1. Migration of PLHIVs/OVCs
  2. Lack of willingness among PLHIVs to accessing the benefits due to various reasons such as status and disclose issues.
  3. Very delayed process from the government end
  4. Lengthy Government process
  5. Few supportive documents which was necessarily required by the government but which could not be met by the beneficiaries
