Washim District (Non-DAPCU) DIS's Response to DCC for HIV-TB

Washim is a very small district, situated in the Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra. The livelihood of the average population is a agriculture and district constructed by rural towns. IEC about the TB-HIV was far away from the rural part. In the April DCC meeting we analyzed the fact to concentrate more on the TB factor as the referral and detection part was very weak in all the ICTC’s. As Washim came in the ‘C’ category district, only DS was there to lead the overall HIV program under the guidance of CS. DS personally visit all the ICTC’s and TB unit and sensitize all the system to work for TB referral and detection.

The unstoppable efforts and continuous follow up visits gave eye-opening figures in the first quarter. In the second DCC (TB-HIV) meeting, the figures shared with all the TB staff and ICTC staff and it has been concluded that system needed more efforts to identify more TB cases to control infection. Deputy Director personally came to the HIV-TB meeting, DTO, CS, all the STS and ICTC staff presented their achievement with healthy discussion and hurdles they faced in the field. District continuously performing in HIV-TB factor and these efforts highlight district in the best performance in HIV-TB in the Maharashtra.
